Yup that was the joke,  7 AM at BIT, for 60 mi of road riding with plenty of steep dirt. HA

picked up some more stompRZ,  like Derek who looked like a trackie and drilled it like one too, as well as Walter AKA Stash who loves

bitching and moaning but couldn’t help having a great ride anyway

Funny enough i didn’t get any shots of the Brown Ranch RD climb burt suffice it to say it was steep.  After descending from Telluride down to

Placerville in 17 miles you regain all that elevation and more in half the distance, and on dirt no less! Needless to say it was awesome and Fever may have climbed it in his big ring for no good reason. Once upon the horsefly mesa we stopped in to see Frenchy and get some water and enjoy the view.

From there we crossed to the Dave Wood road and for a brief moment we had the sensation of riding along in the belgian countryside. Except the Sneffels Range and Mt Wilson were rather prominent. One of my favorite reasons for getting the road bikes onto the dirt roads is because you can ride 3-4 across and look around and not have to worry about cars. It’s also obviously good practice to stay supple on the gravel.

And next thing we knew we popped out on Dallas Divide and charged down into a headwind where some splits occurred.

Our pace lining wasn’t too bad though considering how rarely we see a posse of roadies out around here.

And as we were saying all day, ‘it’s not a race as long as Fever is off the front’ which he was most of the time, especially up Deep Creek where he grabbed some snooz at the top. IN any event our rider of the Day goes to Nacho Lopez who joined us on a borrowed bike 3 days out of Puerto Rico and thankfully had a triple for the atrocious dirt climbing we were doing all day. Amazing display of fortitude and power coming from sea level and choosing to go on a StomPArillA ride just like that!  Good Stuff for April FoolZ day
